Countdown to Thursday

Bitter Descent is finally here. This Thursday, come and celebrate this year’s beer from Natural Selection Brewing, with live music from Edinburgh’s own award-winning Blues band, The Blueswater, live jazz, soul/funk music, and plenty of beer, from 7pm until late.

New Amphion and Teviot Lounge, Teviot Row House, Thursday July 2nd, 2015 £8 earlybird until mid-June/£10 on the door – includes first pint and souvenir glass

Entrance includes your first pint, a souvenir pint glass, access to three unique beers before anyone else in the UK – two of which are on for one-night only – and a full evening of entertainment.

Specials

Text-Mex food will be available, the New Amphion will be serving up keg and cans, and the Teviot Lounge will double as our cask bar for specialty brews.

This is the culmination of over six months of work for us, and we’re really proud of the result. Natural Selection Brewing is a collaborative project between the International Centre for Brewing and Distilling, ourselves – MSc students at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh – and renowned Edinburgh brewers Stewart Brewing, and it’s the fifth year of excellent beer. We hope you enjoy it.

24 hours until show time

So it's 24 hours until we launch this years Natural Selection Brewing beer Mutiny on the Beagle at summerhall courtyard. We couldn't be more excited about it, we've been working long hours to make this night as good as it can possibly be for you guys. to help the night run as smoothly as possible here is , in detail, the rundown along with the answers to any questions you might have.

The Basics:

Where: Summerhall - Summerhall Pl, Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh, EH9 1QH (map)

When: Wednesday 9th july, 6-11pm

Tickets: online here or in person at summerhall box office, brewstore or great grog.

You can pay on the door but there is only a limited number of mutiny on the beagle branded glasses available so it is advised to book ahead or show up early.

Over 18s only.

On arrival:

If you have pre-bought a ticket online please either bring along a printed confirmation of your booking or simply show it on your phone. If you have purchased a ticket in person then please bring that along on the night.

On arrival you will exchange your ticket for a tankard containing two small plastic anchors and a sheet of raffle tokens. This pint glass is yours to keep for the night and as a souvenir of the night. The glasses are marked to both a pint and half pint lines.

One anchor = one half pint.

two anchors = one pint

You can use your tokens in exchange for a pint of Mutiny or a half of each the keg and cask versions of Mutiny, it's up to you! You can also use tokens for a soft drink if you aren't drinking.

There will also be bottles of Mutiny in the fridges, and beers from Stewart Brewing and Barneys on tap.

After you have used up your tokens you can take your glass back to the bar and get another pint of Mutiny for £3.50. There will be water available for rinsing out your glass (and of course for drinking - be sensible folks!). There are multiple keg and cask lines for Mutiny so queues should be minimal even during busy periods.

Card payments:

Card payments will be available behind the bar but bear in mind there will be a few hundred people at the event and payment by cash will speed the whole process up for you and everyone else.

The nearest cash point available is at the corner shop opposite the front entrance to Summerhall. However this tends to be slow and I would recommend using the one at Sainsburys or the Bank of Scotland on South clerk street . As long as you have a mutiny glass you can regain entry throughout the night.

Food:

food will be served by Jones and Sons BBQ. They will be serving food from 6pm until 10pm or until they run out. food will include pulled pork buns and mac and cheese served with a delicious sauce made from our beer!

Food will be priced around £4 for a pulled pork roll (cash only). I'm sure it will be busy so try and order early or form an orderly queue, it will be worth it!

Please do not bring in outside food.

Music:

Music will be supplied by our good friends the Gramophone Jass Band. They will be playing semi-acoustically as a 6 piece band across two 40 minute sets.

Raffle:

We are thankful to have been donated a number of great raffle prizes from our friends at Summerhall, Brewstore, Jones and Sons amongst others as well as some Natural Selection merchandise. you will receive a row of raffle tickets upon entry, additional tickets will be available from the merchandise stall priced £1 each.

Merchandise and off sales:

we will be selling T-shirts, raffle tickets and bottles of "Mutiny on the Beagle" for the first time at a merchandise stall (beer until 10pm only). If you purchase beer we will give you a token to collect your beer on the way out so you don't have to carry it around all night. Pick-up will be from the Summerhall shop on the way out.

art Exhibition:

We are honoured to have our artist Hannah Christina Dewar, who designed all of our labels, pump clips, posters, and t-shirts, at the launch. She will be exhibiting original art and prints from Mutiny on the Beagle along side work in progress sketches and her other work. This will take place in the garden shed to the right of the bar. Please have a look as she has come all the way from Bristol just for the launch!

Buses:

There is a bus stop right outside Summerhall door serving the following services:

29, 42, 67

Alternatively south clerk street round the corner is a major bus route serving many different bus routes.

I think that's about it. We can't wait to see you all on Wednesday for a pint of Mutiny!
